Applies to vehicles with a a permissible total weight between 2.5 and 3.5 tonnes. The coming license requirement is part of the government's action plan to combat social dumping in the transportation sector in Norway. The introduction of a national license releases the government from the constraints of EEA legislation, allowing national requirements. If operators try to break the laws by driving lighter vans, a consequence could be, the weight restriction might be adjusted to less than 2.5 tonnes.
A transportation license permits you to legally provide transportation services within certain weight limits. Licenses are issued by The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen). All licensed carriers are listed in Statens Vegvesens register of transport operators. It is easy to sort out who is permitted to do transportation. Apply for a licence in time!
